Add Fruit to Beer with the “Lime Bomber”

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend but the Lime Bomber is probably a bartender’s. The Lime Bomber is a  “plastic plunger that makes it simple to cram a bit of fruit into your bottle of wheat beer or your Mexican lager without getting a faceful of acid,” says Boing Boing gadgets.

While the Lime Bomber is totally unnecessary for someone enjoying a drink at home, it proves to be very sanitary and perhaps even time saving for bartenders. According to The New York Times, “a little-known city Health Department rule forbids ‘bare hand contact’ with the lime,” so the Lime Bomber squashes that dilemma for New York City bartenders.

Not quite convinced? See a demonstration here.

Is it a must for the fruit in beer enthusiast? Nah. Will it impress your friends during your Cinco de Mayo party? Probably. Will it save a bartender’s eyes from the acidity kickback of a lime? Definitely.

  1. When I hear the phrase lime bomber – I really just get an image of Snoopy, flying his dog house, chucking limes at Charlie Brown.

I don’t know which is more awesome.

  2. I can’t believe this exists. Seems unnecessary, but kind of amazing.
